Pensacola Women’s Alliance Scholarship Endowment to University of West Florida

The Pensacola Women’s Alliance, PWA, is proud to announce a gift of a PWA Scholarship Endowment to the University of West Florida. The PWA Scholarship Endowment is a $20,000.00 self-sustaining scholarship for degree-seeking women in financial need.

“This is what we are about,” said Cecilia Nanni, PWA president, of her organization comprised of professional and business women. “The purpose of PWA is to encourage the advancement of women. The scholarship ties in with our mission to expand opportunities for female students pursuing higher education.”

Gretchen Van Valkenburg, associate director of development at UWF, along with Martha Lee Blodgett, director of development, will accept the endowment on behalf of UWF at the PWA dinner meeting on December 16, 2010. The endowment will be managed by the UWF Foundation.

Working on a five year plan, Nanni noted that the group completed their commitment a full year ahead of schedule.

“We are enhancing women’s lives. That is just what we do.”

The PWA, established in 1982, has also provided a scholarship endowment for deserving women to Pensacola State College and provides an annual scholarship to George Stone Technical School.
